UGC Creator Rates in 2026: What Brands Pay

What are typical UGC creator rates?

It depends on the creator, the deliverables and the rights you buy. As of October 2026, marketplace data puts one short UGC video at about $100 to $200: Collabstr reports an average asking price of $180 and an average paid price of $154 per UGC engagement, and Pitchlo's brief data shows a median of $100 per video. Paid-ad usage, whitelisting, extra hooks and raw footage are often priced separately, and experienced creators and longer videos cost more. Compare quotes for the same brief, line by line.

A UGC creator's rate is the fee for filming one piece of content from your brief, usually a short vertical video. Most rates in 2025 and 2026 marketplace data land between about $100 and $200 per video, but the base rate is only the first line of a quote. Rights to run the video as an ad, access to the creator's account, extra hooks and raw footage are often priced separately, and they decide what you actually pay.

This guide is for brands buying UGC. Every figure comes from a linked public source, checked on October 19, 2026. Knowlify makes UGC-style ads with AI presenters instead of hiring creators, so we have an interest in this comparison; we used only figures we could trace to a marketplace's own data or price list. What do UGC creators charge per video?

Three marketplaces publish data on what UGC actually costs, and each measures it differently:

  • Asking versus paid. The Collabstr 2026 report, based on more than 21,000 collaborations and 200,000 creators on its marketplace in 2025, puts the average UGC asking price at $180 and the average paid price at $154 per engagement. Brands paid about 14% less than creators asked, by our arithmetic. In Collabstr's 2025 report, UGC had the smallest gap of any category, 10.29%, or $20.38 on average.
  • What brands advertise. The Pitchlo UGC Pay Report counts 645 per-video UGC briefs posted between December 2025 and October 2026. The median offer is $100 per video, half of all listings fall between $50 and $200, and the top tenth offer $338 or more. These are advertised budgets, not settled invoices.
  • What platforms pre-fill. On JoinBrands, a US UGC video job defaults to $60 and cannot be set below $50, before the platform fee. On Billo, creator payouts for a 15-second video start at $30 for new creators and $70 for premium creators, while Billo charges brands from $99 a video, with platform fees, revisions and usage rights included.

Rates also vary by niche. In Pitchlo's October 2026 data, the median per-video offer was $90 for tech (240 listings), $100 for beauty (69), $120 for lifestyle (121) and $150 for other niches grouped together (215).

What is in a UGC creator's rate card?

A rate card lists what a creator makes and what each item costs. As a buyer, expect to see most of these lines, priced separately or bundled:

Line itemWhat it coversPublished price examples
Base videoOne video from your brief, usually 15 to 60 seconds$100 median brief (Pitchlo); $180 average ask (Collabstr)
Extra hooks or variationsA new opening or call to action on the same footage$80 each at Twirl
Raw footageThe unedited clips, so your editor can cut new versions$50 to $100 or more in an Insense pricing cheatsheet from 2024
Usage rightsPermission to run the video in your own ads and channels for a set periodCollabstr found campaigns with usage rights averaged 39% more, across all influencer campaigns
Whitelisting, Spark Ads or partnership adsRunning ads from the creator's own handle$100 to $150 a month for a 30-day license, starting prices in the Insense cheatsheet
Posting to the creator's accountAn organic post to the creator's followersSet by each creator on Billo
RevisionsChanges within the original briefTwo included on Billo; one to ten on JoinBrands, by plan

Some platforms fold the rights into the base price. Billo includes full usage rights, JoinBrands says buyers acquire unlimited usage rights on purchased content, and JoinBrands supplies TikTok Spark codes and Instagram partnership ad codes with relevant campaigns at no extra cost. If you hire a creator directly, none of that is automatic: put the channels, period, territory and editing rights in writing.

What changes a UGC creator's rate?

  • Experience. JoinBrands adds 50% to a basic UGC video for a Level 2 creator and 100% for a Level 3 creator; for advanced formats such as green screen or B-roll, Level 3 costs 150% more.
  • Length. On JoinBrands, a 30-second video costs 10% more than a 15-second one, a 60-second video 20% more, and 3 minutes or longer 50% more.
  • Complexity. Billo suggests a complexity bonus of $20 to $190 when a brief asks for more than a standard video.
  • Rights scope. Longer usage periods, more channels and paid-ad access all push the price up, which is why the Collabstr usage-rights gap is so large.
  • Niche. Pitchlo's medians differ by up to $60 between niches, from $90 for tech to $150 for other niches.

How do you compare UGC creator quotes fairly?

Send every creator the same brief, then compare the quotes line by line rather than by headline rate. Write the brief so it names:

  1. The deliverables: number of videos, length, aspect ratios and hooks per video.
  2. The rights: channels, territories, how long you can run the ads, and whether you need whitelisting.
  3. The extras: raw footage, captions, posting and the number of revisions.
  4. The logistics: who ships the product, and when you need the files.

Then work out the cost per usable video, including shipping and your team's review time, not the cost per video delivered. A creator at $150 with paid-ad rights included can cost less than one at $100 who charges separately for every right you need. Our guide to hiring UGC creators or using a UGC ad service covers the coordination work behind each option.

How can you pay less per video without underpaying creators?

  • Buy in volume. Published packages get cheaper per video as they grow. Trend's credit packages fall from $91.67 a video on its $550 Starter package to $69.14 on its $3,872 Scale package, and Twirl's US price falls from $475 a video at 4 videos to $325 at 60, on Trend and Twirl's pricing pages.
  • Ask for hooks, not new videos. If you are testing openings, extra hooks on one video cost less than new videos.
  • Agree the rights up front. Renegotiating usage after a video starts winning is usually harder than buying the term you need at the start.
  • Use a retainer for steady volume. Upwork's hiring guide puts a monthly UGC content retainer at $375 to $2,200, against $50 to $440 for a single video.

Do not push rates to the floor. JoinBrands sets minimum job prices because, in its words, floors keep pricing fair for creators and "competitive enough to actually attract applicants." A rate that attracts no experienced creators costs you more in reshoots.

When do creator rates stop being the right comparison?

Paying per creator works well when you need a few videos from real people using your product. It gets harder when you need many new ads every week, because every video adds sourcing, shipping, briefing and review. At that point, compare a managed package or an AI production route on cost per usable ad instead. Our guide to AI UGC versus creator UGC costs compares those two directly, and our list of UGC agencies covers managed options.

Knowlify is an AI-native ad agency that makes UGC-style ads with AI presenters, about 25 finished ads a week, with no creator fees, product seeding costs or usage-rights renewals on top of a scoped monthly plan. It is not a substitute for a real customer's experience; if your ad needs that, hire a creator. See our UGC agency service or book a call to compare a quote with your creator budget.

Key takeaways

  • Marketplace data from 2025 and 2026 puts a short UGC video at about $100 to $200: $180 average ask and $154 average paid on Collabstr, and a $100 median brief on Pitchlo.
  • The base rate is one line; usage rights, whitelisting, hooks, raw footage and posting can change the total more than the rate does.
  • Experience, length, complexity, rights scope and niche all move the price.
  • Compare quotes for the same brief and work out the cost per usable video.
  • Buy volume, hooks and rights up front to lower the per-video cost without underpaying creators.

FAQ

How much do UGC creators charge per video?

As of October 2026, marketplace data puts a short UGC video at about $100 to $200. Collabstr's 2026 report shows an average asking price of $180 and an average paid price of $154 per UGC engagement, and Pitchlo's brief data shows a median offer of $100 per video, with half of all listings between $50 and $200.

How much do UGC usage rights cost?

It depends on the channels and period. Collabstr's 2025 report found that influencer campaigns with usage rights averaged $307, against $221 without, a 39% difference. Some platforms, including Billo and JoinBrands, include usage rights in their published prices as of October 2026, so check what a quote already covers.

How much does whitelisting cost for UGC?

Whitelisting, TikTok Spark Ads and Meta partnership ads let you run ads from a creator's account, usually under a monthly license. An Insense pricing cheatsheet from 2024 lists starting prices of $100 to $150 a month for a 30-day license. JoinBrands includes Spark and partnership ad codes with relevant campaigns at no extra cost.

Do UGC creators charge by follower count?

Less than influencers do. A UGC fee pays mainly for content you run from your own accounts, so on-camera skill, editing and niche usually matter more than the creator's audience. Follower count matters more when the creator also posts the content or you run ads from their handle.

Should I pay UGC creators per video or on a retainer?

Pay per video for a test or a one-off batch. A retainer suits steady monthly volume from the same creator. Upwork's hiring guide puts a monthly UGC content retainer at $375 to $2,200, against $50 to $440 for a single video.
